Garance + Captioned Photos.

I love Garance Dore for several reasons. First, she is totally no-holds-barred in her writing and completely shameless when it comes to sharing personal experience. Secondly, her little scribbled captioned photos are just perfection - a little bit of personalization on something that can be so generic. Plus I like the quotes she chooses. And lastly, she has just done a mini video-diary series that is too cute, and a nice insight into the madness of fashion month. It's called 'Pardon my French' and is on youtube. Seriously, check it out.

(and yes, I did pick nearly all of the shoe photos. What can I say? I'm a sucker for pretty shoes.)

Karl.

Oh Karl. You're fantastic.
I also appreciate that you share my view on sweatpants. . . but sadly not my views on to-do lists.

I'll have Poppy's pants, please.

Poppy Delevigne - love this girl's style and love her pants!! I'm definitely a pants and jeans girl - skirts and dresses tend to annoy me. Can't wait for the cold weather so I can wear them all the time! Although it's been pretty chilly lately, especially when leaving the house at 7.30am for 8am classes! Coffee has been a great friend this week =).

Oscars.

I know everyone likes to weigh in on the looks of the evening, but there were two absolute standouts for me.

1. Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford. Utterly divine, and really original.
2. Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein. She's always a knockout, but this red was so stunning, and I really liked the lace!

Semester One.

Good luck to all returning to University tomorrow, or those back at work for another week of raking in the chips. May your studying be fruitful and your stationery coordinated.

This is what summer looks like.

Not all of these were taken this year (due to very average weather) but this is what summer looks like to me. So much gratitude to God and the weatherman for the last few days - utterly beautiful.

Bring on more sunny weekends!

NYFW rant.

Mother: Amy we have to go we're running late!
Amy (browsing The Collection and Style.com): Okay, I know that this is just another week for you, but you are clearly not aware that history is being made today! (dramatic emphasis for maximum effect)
Mother: huh?
Amy: It is in fact New York Fashion Week and although I'm well aware that this doesn't impact you in any way, it happens to be an enormous source of information and entertainment for me, and so I will be downstairs in five minutes when I have finished watching Calvin Klein and seeing if Occupy Wall Street are going to make any impact at all!

Quite funny. And although (truth be told) NYFW has no actual impact on my life either, I love seeing what comes up in the collections, and it spins my mind thinking how much in advance designers are! I mean technically (even though winter will be here in a couple of months), these clothes are being shown so that they can be manufactured by November. And worn in December, in the Northern hemisphere.

Now because we're down the bottom of the world and things are the wrong way round, we're supposed to be behind. But I think we're pretty good at sneaking things early, and I'm betting, like in most seasons, we'll see some crazy things pop up this winter from the recently shown collections. I'm hoping so anyway, because nothing makes me smile like some outrageous fashion.

And we all know summer might be the best season, but winter is the most fashionable. There's only so much fashion fun you can have when more than a single layer and/or closed toe shoes make you die of heat. Keep your eyes peeled ladies, I'm looking forward to getting back to uni and doing some serious people watching.
