Burberry is in love.

Have had lots of fun recently trawling through the collections for Fall 2013. Burberry are one of my favourites, with Christopher Bailey naming his collection 'Trench Kisses.' Too cute.

I didn't love the heavy use of rubber (hence why there's not much in these images), but it was okay when used sparingly, or in my favourite colour. Loved the animal prints but couldn't stand the kitten heels! There is no shoe LESS flattering than a kitten heel. Fine on models, not okay on mere mortals.

The metal necklines on plain back dresses were very simple/futuristic, which I liked (and it didn't hurt that Karlie and Cara were the ones wearing them!).

Favourite looks below, enjoy!

PS. Found this gem on fashionologie.com, explaining the name of the show!
“Trench Kisses, A Collection of Classics and Christine Keeler.” Keeler was the attractively tousled early-sixties good-time girl who helped to topple Britain’s Conservative government of the time, following the revelation of her simultaneous liaisons with a cabinet minister, a drug dealer—and a Russian spy. “I liked the idea of this very established, classic heritage world meeting a sassy, sweet, sexy, subversive world,” Bailey explained backstage.

Love Love Love.

Still recovering from the week that was Valentine's (and admiring my gorgeous flowers that have not shown the faintest sign of wilting - win!).

Here's some love (and/or lust) for you all to begin your week, I hope it's a good one!

Ad Love: D&G SS13.

As promised, here is the final SS13 campaign from D&G!!!! (cue mega excitement).

Domenico actually shot the campaign, and Stefano styled it. Creative explosion!

“It’s like when a movie director creates a movie. You start to look for a setting for the actors. We choose the music, the models. The last part is to shoot the -campaign—what we want to tell the audience." - Gabbana.

It's a gorgeous Sicilian dream, full of black lace, unstructured suits, kids and italian matriarchs, colour and stripes and crazy woven constructions.

If I won a million dollars, this campaign would make flights to Italy my first purchase.

Happy Valentine's Day Team!

Fantastic way of 'engaging the medium', and making an offer that (let's be honest), nobody is really going to take them up on, and if they do it's only worth $99. Funny, witty and time-appropriate. Win for IKEA.

The 'in' colour.

Burgundy. Wine. Plum. Oxblood. Aubergine. Whatever you want to call it, dark red was deemed the colour of the season for AW12 (SS12-13 for our Southern Hemisphere).

It's really awkward being out of kilter with the North - we get some of the seasonal trends at the end of our winter, they trickle through summer and then by the next winter, when we are thoroughly exhausted of them, we get them all over again.

My love affair with burgundy began with a dotti jumper I purchased around June '12. It became my absolute favourite jumper, to the point where my friends were sick of seeing it. It was the beginning of a small love affair.

I don't mind partaking in trends. However when I evaluate my closet, it appears my love affair has turned into a wee obsession...
Dotti Jumper, RUBY Nail Polish, Topshop Boots (Actually Dash's, but I have them in brown), Trackpants, MAC Lipstick in Media, American Apparel Circle Scarf & AA Small Leather Purse.
To be fair, I have the boots in brown and the purse in fuschia, but I seriously considered both in burgundy.

Are you sick of seeing it yet?

To top it all off, one of my favourite stores at home is featuring the colour HEAVILY in their AW13 collection. Good job Moochi!

Oh, Karen.

Karen Walker is one of those designers I hate to love.

I never understood as a teenager why she upped and left us to show in New York, and always felt slightly cheated that somehow we weren't good enough.
I adore her jewellery (it seems to be the perfect combination of classic and kitschy), but so does everyone else.
Let's be honest, on my poor student budget, 90% of what she makes falls well out of my price range.

HOWEVER, every time I see one of her collections up against other big name international designers, I'm always so amazed and so proud because the clothes she designs come together in a way that is both very aesthetically 'together', and things I would actually wear!

There's something very kiwi about how laid back her runway looks are, and I think that comes from how nonchalant we can be about clothes. Yet her collections still look polished and cohesive, if a little matchy-matchy at times.

I like her addiction to prints (although I'm not seeing so many this time around, which is interesting and a nice change) and I appreciate her (very successful) forays into jewellery and sunglasses, and of course her shoes with Beau Coops!

She's obviously a very savvy businesswoman, which I respect, and she's also a mum, which is cool. The Department Store was a stroke of genius and it kind of seems like everything she touches turns to gold (which I'm certain masks hours of blood sweat and tears behind the scenes).

So thankyou Karen, for reminding me that kiwis can compete successfully on a world stage, and hopefully by the time this collection hits stores, I'll be able to afford more than a t-shirt!

PS What do we think of her new hair??

Hiatus is over.

Welcome to 2013 everyone. Apologies for the unnanounced hiatus - Lizzie is now a working girlllll and I'm in San Diego!

Have made a bit of a resolution for Lent - instead of giving something up (and no doubt failing halfway through), I am resolving to post EVERY SINGLE WEEKDAY between now and Easter.

Hope you all enjoy, stay tuned for a bunch of new things!
