ALLBLACK.

Favorite Black&White photos, and photos of cool black things. In support of the mighty All Blacks in the hope that we can finally win the World Cup tonight!!!

(for all our international readers who have no idea what we're on about, rugby is kind of a national religion down here in New Zealand, and even though we have the best team in the world, we never seem to be able to win the Rugby World Cup. Tonight we're in the final against France, and if we play as well as we have been playing so far, it's going to be a HUGE night. Oh, and our team is called the All Blacks, hence the black post.)

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2012

Yum yum yum block pastels and weird cuts. Cutout shoulders and vertical cut detailing also so cool!
Love the pastels!! Also they semi-see through raincoat is really cool. I like the simplicity of Phillip Lim, and the pants are always beautifully cut. Not sure how they'd look on someone who actually had thighs though. . .

Wiser Words

"You can not go through your life scared of like being rejected of the opposite sex. Or the same sex. Depending on what you like. You need to see your potentials as like a job interview. You go in, you lay out what you have to offer on the table, and if they like it, they will hire you. If they don’t, you leave and find another job. And this goes to everyone, okay? It’s not just a guys job to go after the girl. If women think they can run for president, go after corporate jobs, and do everything a man can then why can’t your ass go after the guy? Go after what you want. There is nothing more annoying than having a friend with a crush and does nothing about the crush. And who has this mentality that they’re going to be “forever alone.” Well, duh, bitch, you’re going to be forever alone because all you do is facebook stalk them in the fucking corner. If you like somebody, fucking tell them. You don’t even have to tell them in person. Send them a text message, send them a facebook message, but do not write in their fucking honesty box. Just be yourself, be honest, be real, and be realistic, because you will never know who will appreciate that."

GUCCI.

I have been drooling over Gucci's ad campaigns for months, and keep meaning to post about them. Have finally gotten around to it!

There's something about the extremely saturated color, and the highly sexualized nature of these images that I love. Not that I'm obsessed with sexing everything up, but I just really like the 'out there' nature of the photos, and the way they're set up. Its like extreme extravagance meets color explosion. The summer ones have been around for ages now, but looking at the winter ones for next year, the style is staying the same. I love it, it's a refreshing change from the colorless boring nature of some ads.

On a bit of an advertising buzz at the moment actually, choosing my majors for next year and advertising is a big contender. Makes me very aware of the percentage of fashion magazines that are ads - they're almost becoming a showcase, editorials in themselves. My media lecturers would love this - is the fashion industry blurring the lines between editorial and advertorial?

Ksubi Kolors - love this video. (Can't work out how to put the video in the blog, but there is a youtube link).

Have never owned a pair of ksubi jeans, but this video almost makes me want to go and try some on. Maybe not yellow, but the green or red are very very appealing. Or maybe that's just because Bambi, Cisco and Heidi have legs to die for. It's worth a look, and the music is really contrasting, which is fun.

House of Holland Spring 2012 RTW

Not sure how I feel about the Picasso-esque two toned shirts, but I LOVE the peach shorts and cloud-colored jeans.

I'm guessing Lizzie likes the cardigans, and the colors. That's very Lizzie.
