This Week

Wanting: All things velvet. I can't help myself. I should warn you now there will probably be a lengthy post dedicated to it soon!

Reading: The Female Brain by Louann Brizendine. Helps a lot if you're wondering why women (me) are so crazy.

Listening to: Thieves Like Us, Diane Birch, The Vaccines, Six60, Alexi Murdoch, and and I also listened to some of the stuff on Burberry Acoustic. But mostly I've just been playing Rebecca Black on loop. Also the sound of rain, which in itself is lovely, but also tells me it's not summer anymore, which in some ways is not so lovely.

Buying: Just bought a huge black felt hat and some shearling boots. Pretty happy with those purchases. Even better, the ice cream at Kuaotunu.

Watching: Season 5 Skins finale. I think possibly the best season yet, and pretty amazing actors. If you haven't watched it yet, you should. Also, I just rented The Wackness (Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby). Although it wasn't the most uplifting film I've seen, it was weird, and I'm going to warn you now, there were a couple of extremely awkward sex scenes, I really liked it anyway.

Eating: My parents' 25th wedding anniversary cake, and pretty much the entire vegetarian section of the menu at The Maple Room.

Making: A pile of sheer skirts and more skater dresses for friends. I managed to spend over $60 at Nick's last week, and considering how cheap their fabric is, that's a lot of metres.

Wishing you all a wonderful week at uni, work or whatever you're up to!

rooms.

I can't wait until I have a whole house to fill with things. And rooms for being messy and rooms for being tidy and rooms for clutter and rooms for minimalism. Having more than one room is a concept so exciting that if I think too much about it, my mind runs away with me.
here's to the future, and having lots of rooms.

OneTeaspoon.

Love the beautiful Wanderer campaign shot with Bambi, and especially the hot pink lace bra against all that natural background! Such a neat idea!

Favorite oneteaspoon pieces include the bodices, 'that' pearl kiss of death dress, the denim shorts and the torn dresses! Would love to find some good places that stock this stuff in Auckland, or maybe will just wait to have a good go when I go to Auz in July!

March On

Some pretty things I found this month - this is probably a bit repetitive if you follow me on tumblr so I'm sorry!

It's been a perfect summer but now it's time to start working hard again. Or at least make it look like you're working. So I hope uni is going well for everyone; I'm actually really enjoying it! Then again I always have been the weird one...
As for this week's words of wisdom, You gotta boil it down to the essentials. It’s like Cube says, “Life ain’t nothin’ but bitches and money. (Chasing Amy)

Frankie.

I am opposed to most things hipster. I hate people who like something, and then dislike it just because everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. Oh woe you, you're not 'special' anymore. If you really like something, you'll like it before, during, and after everyone else likes it. I find that hipsters revel in their 'uniqueness' - how they can be just like every other hipster.

Apologies. Ranting.

So with a little disdain (as you can see I am cautious of anything even mildly 'alternative' - I am predictable and consumeristic all the way), I picked up Frankie magazine. I swept my eyes past all of my favourites (FQ, Bazaar, Vogue, Remix, Russh) and paid my $9.99 for Frankie, as my reading material on the plane to Palmey North.

And oh, what a treat. I LOVE this magazine. Firstly (Lizzie agrees) the matte pages are a welcome alternative, and the minimal advertising is heavenly. The layouts I find wonderfully easy to read, the photographs are unusual enough to keep me in awe, and the commentary and writing are witty and entertaining.

Favourite part is definitely 'frank bits' near the front - 8 pages of beautiful bits and pieces, a mishmash of clothes and jewellery and music and all things fun.

So, basically it's worth the read. I recommend =)
