Met Gala: the Good, the Big and the Ugly.

Would kill to go to the Alexander McQueen exhibition Savage Beauty at the Metropolitan Museum in NY.

Last night was the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gale, and unlike the oscars, fashion people who come to big events like this aren't afraid of taking risks. LOVE.

Also, it seemed like everyone who wasn't in McQueen was in McCartney!! Some obligation to wear a British designer? Very strange. . . . or maybe I just loved all the McCartney frocks.

Anyway, here's the Good, the Big, and the Ugly. xx

Thandie Newton in Stella McCartney, Taylor Swift in J Mendel (pictured with Giles Mendel)

SJP and Sarah Burton, both in McQueen.

Rihanna in Stella McCartney - not normally a fan but I LOVED this crazy dress!

Salma Hayek and Stella McCartney, Natalia in Valentino (with designer)

Oh dear. MK in Vintage Givenchy, Miranda in balletic Marchesa. Undecided on that one.

Dianna Agron in Michael Kors (with designer), Kate Winslet in Stella McC.

Lea Michele in Escada, Karlie Kloss in Dior! Love simple hair + big dress.

Very BIG Kate Hudson in Stella, Jessica Szohr in Topshop Unique (say what?!) weird.

JLo in Gucci, Gisele in McQueen. Love love love.

Miserable-looking Isabel Lucas in LV, Fanning sisters both in Valentino.

Hailee Steinfeld in Stella, Emma Roberts in Michael Kors.

Eva Mendes in Stella, Ashlee Greene in Donna Karen.

Daphne Guinness in what can only be described as a bird (McQueen), and Andre Leon Talley in I dont even know what. It's like 'how can I possibly make myself bigger?'.

Blake Lively in Chanel Couture (with Karl), Alexa Chung in Christopher Kane.

Anna Della Russo (but of course!) in McQueen, Amber Valletta in Stella.

PS What's with all the stars posing with the designers? Have designers replaced sports star boyfriends as the ultimate arm candy?

xx

  1. Gisele and Hailee wore it best in my opinion, but I also saw a photo of Penelope Cruz on E! and thoughts she looked stunnning x

  2. For the record, fashionista.com says 13 red carpet gowns were McQueen, and 16 were McCartney, as Stella was the co-chair of the event!
