Fitness.

With a multi-squillion dollar fitness industry and articles in every magazine you pick up on how to get/stay skinny/fit/toned, I figured it appropriate to have a rant about this, to clarify my opinionated and completely-not-backed-up-with-research-but-experienced thoughts.

Some people are gym people, some people are not gym people. If you're not a gym person, don't join! If you are a gym person, decide whether you are a classes person. If you are a classes person, don't join a gym that has crap classes!! Logical, see?

I am very much a classes person. So much so, that I will only go to the gym if I'm going to a class. Moreover, If there are two classes I like scheduled back to back, even more of a win! Les Mills is the best gym for classes - BodyJam (dance), BodyAttack (killer cardio), Circuit and Yoga are my personal faves, but I'll do just about anything. Boxing is next on my list of things to conquer. . .

Additionally, I am in love with the feeling of sheer superiority at accomplishing a workout before most people get out of bed. My friend Georgia and I (Georgia is training for the Auckland Marathon), do a killer boot camp on Tuesday mornings (6-7am!). It's pretty awesome. You can't walk properly for the rest of the day due to running approx 2000 stairs per session, but it's soworth it.

On that note, Georgia is running her marathon in support of the Heart Foundation. It's an incredible cause, and you should donate some money to motivate her =) http://www.heartracer.org.nz/GeorgiaJohnstoneMarathon/ - she would love even a few dollars!

And I am running my second Half Marathon, hoping to get in under two hours. My last one I was injured, so fingers crossed for this one.

Also, running is fantastical due to the fact that you can do it anywhere. It's one of the best ways to see a city. I was in Sydney a few weeks ago, and ran through the massive park (apologies for forgetting the name), and along past the Sydney Opera House. It was BEAUTIFUL. Plus if you're using valuable luggage space to pack shoes, you're going to be very motivated to work out!

I am also prone to whipping out my phone on any old average run. I guess I just like thebreather, but also trying to 'take time to smell the roses' and all that. Here are a few of my recent favorites. . .

Bill Cunningham: New York

This cute old man is a creative genius. In fact he's a genius in general. The kind of man that you just wish was your grandfather, with all his awesome old school principles that I wish we still abided by. He goes to every party worth going to in New York and won't accept any food or drink, not even a glass of water. He has one outfit, and a staple blue anorak. It's $20, and when it tears (which it does all the time because he cycles everywhere), he tapes it up. He is the antithesis of the industry he observes, and a kind of relic of old school society. The documentary about him is probably the greatest thing I have watched this year, and if you live in Auckland you should ABSOLUTELY go and see it.

In addition, it appears that everyone in my life has either gone to NY or is going. In the books I'm reading (Breakfast at Tiffany's), the films I'm watching (Bill Cunningham), the magazines I pick up (latest edition of Remix), New York seems to be everywhere. I have even downloaded the Guidepal Travel App on my phone in anticipation. Now, just have to arrange the $2500 for airfares, and the accommodation. . . . . donations anyone?

HP.

Bit of image research led me away from our usual fashion orientation and into pottermania. Being generation potter, I felt a post of all my favorite discoveries would be appropriate. To save face, I dedicate this post to one of the biggest potter-lovers I know, Alice Varcoe.

Attention to detail.

STREETFSN is a good source of cute street style photos, and I especially love the attention to detail.

That's all, hope your weeks are going well and you're surviving this freezing weather!!

American Vogue, May 2011.

Natalia Vodianova, Hailee Steinfeld, Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz? That's one pajama party I would love an invite to (and my little sister would aswell).

Favorites?

Dear lovely readers,

As we are thrown back into our uni schedules and the holidays (or WORKING holidays) are behind us, Lizzie and I want to know what posts you have really enjoyed and what we can do more of? We're hoping to increase the frequency of our posting and although we are happy just to rant and rave about things we love and hate and find interesting, we would love to know what you actually like seeing/reading and what you look at and go 'oh gosh amy and lizzie stop going on about that.'

Please please comment (or facebook us!) it would make our days =)

If I had to wear kitten heels, they would be Valentino.

. . . Except that I just found the actual heel version, which of course I love more, being five foot three and a bit.

Also I love love the superette studded chucks, but i feel like such a sellout buying them at over triple the price of normal chucks! however, dont think DIY would be as cool in this instance. . . . and my research proves me right. I like the idea of studded shoes, like I like ripped jeans and holes in tights. . . awesome in theory but potentially horrific in practice.

Lizzie once (triumphantly) handed me a pair of studded tights from none other than supre, declaring "These are hideous! They're so you!". Not sure what to make of that (and potentially offended) I tried them on, fell in love and bought them. She laughed at me every day I wore them, which was actually quite a lot.

Haven't had the balls to bring them out lately. . . maybe now that I'm in my twenties I should be too mature for frivolous and borderline-appropriate things like studded leggings. We shall see. . .

PS my humble apologies for the lack of posting lately - both Lizzie and I were on Uni holidays, but we're back into the swing of things now (hopefully).
